A Simple Guide to Banking Your Disney Vacation Club (DVC) Points
Every year, Disney Vacation Club Members lose valuable Vacation Points simply because they miss their banking deadline. The good news is that the rule is simple.
Disney Vacation Club Members may bank their current Use Year points beginning on the first day of their Use Year through the end of the eighth month of that Use Year.
Miss the deadline, and those points generally cannot be banked into the next Use Year.
What Is a Use Year?
Your Use Year is the month your annual Vacation Points are deposited into your Disney Vacation Club account.
For example:
- A February Use Year receives new points every February 1.
- An October Use Year receives new points every October 1.
Your banking window always begins on that date.
Did You Know?
Many Members assume Disney Vacation Club has a Use Year for every month of the year.
It doesn't.
Disney Vacation Club only offers these eight Use Years:
February • March • April • June • August • September • October • December
There are NO January, May, July or November Use Years in the Disney Vacation Club system.

Why Bank Your Points?
Banking allows you to move unused Vacation Points into your next Use Year if your vacation plans change or you're saving for a larger trip.
- Your plans changed.
- You're saving for a bigger vacation.
- You won't use all of your points this year.
Remember: Banked points cannot be banked again.
Important: Banking Is Permanent
Once you've banked your Vacation Points, they cannot be unbanked or moved back into their original Use Year.
For example, if you have a February Use Year and bank your 2026 points into your 2027 Use Year, you cannot later decide to move those points back if your vacation plans change.
If you still want to travel before your February 2027 Use Year begins, you would typically need to borrow points from your upcoming Use Year, if eligible.
That's why it's wise to think carefully before banking. Banking protects your points from expiring, but it also permanently commits them to your next Use Year.
Banking vs. Borrowing
| Banking | Borrowing |
|---|---|
| Moves points forward into your next Use Year. | Moves points back from your next Use Year into your current Use Year. |
| Cannot be reversed. | Also permanent, you can't unborrow points. |
Our Recommendation
Set a reminder on your phone or calendar about 14 days before your banking deadline. It only takes a few minutes to bank your points, but forgetting could mean losing valuable Vacation Points.
DVC by Resale Tip
If you're buying a resale contract, always verify whether the current Use Year points have already been banked. Banked points can add immediate value to your purchase, while unbanked points approaching their deadline may require prompt action after closing.
